A few weeks ago, Noah Kahan made his second SNL appearance alongside the release of his new album, ‘The Great Divide.’ Honestly, the timing of it couldn’t have been bigger.
He opens with the title track, singing out over his dark acoustic guitar. The set resembling a cozy New England living room with Kahan at its front. His band provides the magic behind him as he remains the centerpiece of the unplugged performance.
His acoustic style is raw and authentic. His ability to play live and write emotional songs for stadiums to sing will continue to take him far. He concludes the first song and the comedy continues.
Nearing 1:00AM in the East, Noah reappears, the floor covered in a gloomy smoke for the final song ‘Doors’. He plays under distant storm clouds, consuming the sky and giving the theme for the closer. SNL gives a glimpse of what his anthems entail, proving why seats will be flooded this summer.
This album is blowing up right now, reaching the top spot on the Billboard 200 list in its first week. Noah is a defining artist of this new era of folk and Americana music… and this sophomore SNL moment is only the beginning of the biggest year yet for Kahan.
Noah Kahan went from buying up his own tickets to say he sold out shows, to playing the grandest stage in New York Comedy for a second time.
